COMMERCE, Texas – Kinsie Hebler threw six scoreless innings and Ciera Nunez went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Texas A&M-Commerce to a series sweep over Midwestern State with a 6-2 win in the finale Saturday afternoon at John Cain Family Softball Field.
Texas A&M-Commerce (15-8, 5-4 LSC) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits with Vanessa Avina, Nunez and Mariah Jameyson tallying RBI to lift the Lions to a 4-0 lead.
The Lions extended their lead to 6-0 in the fourth with Nunez and Jameyson each bringing in a run for multiple-RBI games.
Hebler allowed just two hits through the first six innings of play before
Carli Woolsey and
Taylor Mordecai registered one-out singles to get the Mustangs offense going. A
Misty Muniz walk loaded the bases for MSU before
Amanda Thomas delivered a two-RBI single to center field to put the Mustangs on the board. However, Midwestern was unable to pull any closer down the stretch with the Lions taking the series sweep.
