Mustangs drop series opener to Cameron, 4-0

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Bethany Hines allowed just three base runners the final six innings and Abby Warren went 4-for-4 with two RBI to lead Cameron to a 4-0 shutout victory over Midwestern State in the series opener Friday evening at Mustangs Park.

After Midwestern State (12-17, 3-10 LSC) loaded the bases in the first inning with two hits and a walk, Hines limited the Mustangs to just three singles the remainder of the game. A single up the middle by Erin Knox began a two-out surge for MSU in the first before Carli Woolsey followed with a single to left and Kelsey Knox drew a walk to load the bases. However, Hines escaped the jam with an inning-ending strikeout to keep the game scoreless after one.

Cameron (23-7, 11-2 LSC) went on the board in the top of the second with three singles in the inning. Hines plated the first run of the game with a RBI single to shortstop to score Warren who led off the frame with an infield single.

The Aggies added to their lead in the third on a solo home run to right field by Paige Daino for a 2-0 advantage.

An RBI single down the left field line by Warren plated the third run for Cameron in the fifth to score Breezy McComas who led off with a single through the left side. The Aggies rounded out their scoring in the seventh on a Warren RBI single to center for a 4-0 final.
