WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State plays host to Oklahoma Panhandle State in its home opener Wednesday with a doubleheader to begin a 13-game homestand at Mustangs Park. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State posted a 1-5 record at the season-opening Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Invitational last weekend in Durant, Okla. with the Mustangs facing a stiff test early on with games against three nationally-ranked opponents

Carli Woolsey led the Mustangs during opening weekend with a .474 batting average for a league-best four home runs including a grand slam and three-run shot in her MSU debut

MUSTANGS PICKED SEVENTH IN LSC PRESEASON POLL
- Midwestern State was picked to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll
- West Texas A&M was tabbed the preseason favorite, receiving 26 of 30 first-place votes for 324 points as voted on by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives
- Texas A&M-Commerce earned three first-place votes and 269 points for second while Texas Woman's collected the final first-place vote and received 268 points for third
- Angelo State (263), Cameron (176) and Tarleton State (167) were also picked to finish ahead of Midwestern State (161) while Texas A&M-Kingsville (144), Eastern New Mexico (80), Western New Mexico (79) and UT Permian Basin (49) rounded out the 11-team poll
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
- Oklahoma Panhandle State is 4-0 on the season after a perfect weekend against NAIA University of the Southwest (N.M.) in Hobbs, N.M.
- The Aggies were picked to finish eighth in the Heartland Conference with senior first baseman Darcie Wilson being selected to the league's preseason team
- Freshman utility Anjunessia Husband led OPSU last weekend with a .500 batting average
- Junior infielder Faith Guzman was second for the Aggies with a .455 hitting clip with five hits, four runs scored and four RBI
- Wilson also batted over .400 with four hits and six walks including three doubles and a home run for a .400 average and 1.000 slugging percentage

LOOKING AHEAD
- Midwestern State hosts the MSU Round Robin this weekend at Mustangs Park and Sunrise Optimist Complex with 15 games on tap over the three-day event. All six of MSU's games will be played at Mustangs Park, beginning Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Colorado School of Mines before hosting Southwestern Oklahoma in a 7:30 p.m. matchup. Midwestern takes on Newman (Kan.) in a noon meeting Saturday while squaring off against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) at 7:30. The Mustangs conclude the weekend Sunday with a noon contest against Missouri S&T and a 2:30 p.m. game against Southwest Baptist.
