WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State women's tennis will take on another three-match weekend slate beginning Friday as the 22nd-ranked Mustangs travel to Midland for a pair of matches before returning home Sunday to host Colorado Mesa.
Midwestern State begins play Friday at 9 a.m. in a neutral site contest against New Mexico Military Institute, the 9th-ranked team in the NJCAA, before taking on host Texas-Permian Basin at 2 p.m. at the Bush Tennis Center. The Mustangs conclude the weekend Sunday against the Mavericks with their second home match of the season at 2 p.m. at the MSU Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT
– After a month break from competition, Midwestern State returned to the courts last week to post a 2-1 record
– The Mustangs suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat Friday to NJCAA No. 2 Tyler Junior College in their home opener before answering with two dominant wins in Oklahoma the following day
– Midwestern came away with a 7-2 road win over Central Oklahoma before taking down Southern Nazarene in a neutral site matchup, 8-1
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
– Midwestern State enters the weekend with a 3-1 record on the season and perfect 3-0 mark against NCAA Division II foes

Lauren Pineda comes into the weekend needing just six more wins to reach the 100-win plateau for her career with a 94-37 record while donning the Maroon and Gold
– Pineda could become just the seventh Mustang in MSU women's tennis history to reach 100 career wins
– Last season,
Taylor Coffman became the first Mustang to join the 100-win club since Lacey Wuthrich in 2005
– Wuthrich holds the program wins record with a 138-44 career mark (.758), coming in front of Emilee Black (135), Brooke Gray (131), Sara Butler (129), Marsha Meyer (111) and Coffman (100)
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
– New Mexico Military Institute is 4-3 on the season and are ranked ninth in the NJCAA national poll
– Lorraine Banimataku is ranked 16th in the NJCAA singles rankings with a 5-2 dual record at the No. 3 position this season for the Broncos
– Thea Minor also cracks the national rankings coming in at 26th with a 4-3 record from the top of the lineup
– The duo also team up to form the No. 10 doubles pair in the country with a 6-1 record in dual play
– Dan O'Connell is in his fourth season leading the NMMI women's tennis program

Scott Linn received a memorable win No. 400 last May when the MSU women's tennis team upset No. 12 California (Pa.) in the NCAA Sweet 16
– Linn enters his sixth season leading the MSU men's and women's tennis programs, guiding the Mustangs to a combined seven postseason appearances since taking over the programs in 2010-11
– Linn has posted an 80-37 record (.684) with the men's team while recording an 86-41 mark (.677) with the women for a combined 166-78 (.680)
– Since 1997-98, Linn has compiled a 405-257 (.612) career record in 15 seasons as a men's head coach (222-147, .602) and 12 seasons as a women's coach (183-110, .625), averaging close to 15 wins a season
– Prior to MSU, Linn served head coaching stints at Science & Arts. (Okla.), Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and Florida Southern while serving as a men's assistant coach at his alma mater, East Central (Okla.), and Indiana
