FOR STARTERS
Just two seasons ago, Midwestern State claimed its fourth Lone Star Conference Tournament title in San Angelo. The Mustangs will travel back to that same location for their 18th-straight LSC Tournament where they will face fourth-seeded West Texas A&M Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in an LSC quarterfinal matchup at ASU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs come in as the fifth seed after suffering a couple of 2-1 setbacks at home last weekend to Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's. The winner between Thursday's match will meet up with host and top-seeded Angelo State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the LSC semifinals. Â

No. 2 Texas A&M-Commerce will face the winner between No. 3 Texas Woman's and No. 6 Eastern New Mexico in the other semifinal Friday at 5 p.m. The Pioneers and Greyhounds kick off the LSC Tournament Thursday at 5 p.m.

The LSC Championship will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament at stake.

Tickets are $10 for adults 18 and up while youth will be admitted for $7. Students from participating schools will be admitted for free with their student ID. Fans can also follow along online with all five tournament matches being streamed free of charge on LoneStarConference.org.

SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFS
– West Texas A&M enters the postseason with an 8-9-1 record, coming in on a two-match win streak
– The Lady Buffs finished with a 4-5-1 mark in the LSC for fourth place with 13 points
– Freshman midfielder Khadidra Debesette leads WT with eight goals and 18 points this season
– Junior midfielder Karyn Forbes has totaled a team-best four assists while also adding four goals
– Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Dippel holds a 1.41 goals against average and .800 save percentage in just over 1,200 minutes this season
– Head coach Chad Webb is in his sixth season leading the women's soccer program with a 51-52-12 career mark

– Midwestern State is 18-16-3 against West Texas A&M in the all-time series
– The Mustangs went 1-0-1 against the Lady Buffs this season with a 3-1 win in Wichita Falls and a 1-1 draw in Canyon
– The two teams have met 11 times in the conference tournament with each team holding a 5-5-1 record
– In 2013, the teams faced off in the LSC Championship in San Angelo with MSU edging out WT 4-2 in penalty kicks

– It's no secret the Mustangs defense has been one of the strongest in the LSC and in the nation the past couple of seasons

– The Mustangs surpassed their shutout total from the 2014 season when they posted six clean sheets
– In 2009, the Mustangs broke a 13-year school record with 11 shutouts on the season

BURNETTE COLLECTING HONORS
– After being named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Year a season ago, Burnette continues to rack up the awards in her sophomore campaign
– The Irving native was selected as the LSC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and was tabbed the LSC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 after helping the Mountaineers to a 1-0-1 week that included a 1-0 shutout of No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs
– Burnette currently ranks 82nd in the nation with a 1.02 goals against average

MSU USING BALANCED OFFENSIVE ATTACK
– Sophomore forward
Destinee Williamson has a team-best six goals and 12 points to lead the Mustangs offense
– However, Midwestern State has received contributions from several players on the offensive end with 10 different goal scorers and 16 that have tallied points this season

Aly Wade have joined Williamson in leading the Mustangs with Hannon adding four goals and Wade recording three along with a team-high five assists
MIDWESTERN KNOCKS OFF NO. 13 MOUNTAIN LIONS
– In their first road match of the 2015 season, the Mustangs shutout No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs, 1-0

Morgan Hannon delivered the game winner for Midwestern, converting a penalty kick in the 63rd minute
– The win over UCCS was the first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent since the 2013 season when the Mustangs took down No. 24 Texas A&M-Commerce on the road

CLARKE BEGINS YEAR NO. 2
– In his first season at Midwestern, head coach
Damian Clarke led the Mustangs to an 8-6-5 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference with a 3-5-2 mark
– In seven seasons at Fort Lewis (Colo.), Clarke compiled a 106-31-17 record with five NCAA Tournament appearances
– Now in his ninth season as a head coach, Clarke holds a career mark of 122-43-25 with a winning percentage of .708 that ranks 12th in NCAA Division II

– Midwestern totaled 48 points for third in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll behind preseason favorite Angelo State (82) and Texas A&M-Commerce (80)
