SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
- Texas A&M-Kingsville is searching for its first win of the 2014-15 season with its last regular season victory coming against Angelo State (83-67) on March 1, 2014.
- The Javelinas rank dead last in NCAA Division II in scoring offense at 53.8 points per game and have scored 50-or-fewer points in eight games this season.
- TAMUK is averaging 58.6 points per game over the last five games -- nearly five points more than its season average.
- Sophomore guard Micah Weaver is the Javelinas' top scoring threat averaging 11.2 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field. The Poth product has scored in double figures 10 times this season but is coming off of a season-low performance scoring two points on 1-of-8 shooting Wednesday at Cameron.
- Senior forward Lauren Jay scored 8.9 points and pulls down a team-best 6.1 rebounds a game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field. She has scored 10-or-more points in eight games this season and is coming off of an 11-point, 8-rebound effort against Cameron.
- Junior guard Ashley Viera knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 15 points Wednesday at Cameron. It was her second consecutive double-digit outing after going for 14 points Saturday against West Texas A&M.
- Junior guard Ruby Robertson splashed in a season-high 13 points in 20 minutes off of the bench Wednesday at Cameron.
- Sophomore guard Alexis Copeland matched a career high with 11 points Wednesday at Cameron knocking three 3-pointers.

- Midwestern State snapped a two-game skid with a 69-61 win over Angelo State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- The Mustangs will be playing their eighth game in the month of January Saturday night in Kingsville with a ninth coming next Saturday at Cameron. MSU plays just seven games in the month of February.

Andrea Carter (Angleton, Texas / Angleton HS) notched her seventh double-double of the season finishing with 14 points and 14 rebounds Wednesday night against Angelo State.

Carter is averaging 15.2 points and pulling down 8.8 rebounds a game over her last six outings while shooting 56.7 percent from the field.

Dianna Jones (Hewitt, Texas / Midway HS) connected on 4-of-5 shots from the field and was 6-of-8 from the charity stripe to finish with 14 points Wednesday against Angelo State. She has scored in double figures in each of her last 15 outings despite missing Saturday's game against Texas Woman's due to injury.

Janae McJunkins (Wagoner, Okla. / Wagoner HS (Murray State)) logged nine points and three rebounds in 23 minutes against Angelo State. She is averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 23.6 minutes per game over the last five games.

Lisa Hampton (Kennedale, Texas / Nolan Catholic HS) knocked down her 122nd career 3-pointer Wednesday night against Angelo State and remains third on MSU's all-time made 3-pointers list trailing only Andrea Buben (132 3s from 2006-10) and Kristin Ramsey (125 3s from 2000-04).

Hampton broke out of a shooting slump -- 2-for-18 over the previous three games -- going 2-for-4 with a 3-pointer to finish with seven points Wednesday against Angelo State.

Shambreka Jones (Mesquite, Texas / Poteet HS (Charleston Southern)) swatted a season-high five shots Wednesday against Cameron. She continues to lead the Lone Star Conference while ranking 23rd in NCAA Division II with 2.3 blocks per game.

Katie Brown (El Campo, Texas / Louise HS) scored two points in four minutes Wednesday against Angelo State. It was her first action since Nov. 30.

Krishawn Crockett (Humble, Texas / Summer Creek HS) has played 10-or-more minutes in each of her last two outings.

Whitney Taylor (Melissa, Texas / Melissa HS) knocked down her fourth triple of the season to finish with six points Wednesday against Angelo State. She is averaging 4.8 points while shooting 54.5 percent field (6-of-11) over her last four games.

Noel Johnson is in her seventh season at the helm of the Midwestern State basketball program.
- Johnson boasts a 104-80 record (.565) while leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II postseason in each of the last two seasons including a trip to the South Central Region finals in 2013.
- Johnson reached milestone victory No. 100 with a 61-47 win over Texas Woman's University on Jan. 1, 2015 in Denton.
- Midwestern claimed its first NCAA postseason tournament wins taking down Tarleton State and Metro State (Colo.) in 2013 before falling to No. 4 Colorado Mesa in the regional final.
- Johnson led the Mustangs to its first Lone Star Conference championship in 12 seasons claiming the 2012-13 title.
- Johnson garnered Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 before earning Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Small College Coach of the Year accolades in 2013.
