- Midwestern State looks to match the best start through 10 games in program history Saturday afternoon against Southern Nazarene at Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla.
- The 1989-90 MSU squad opened the season with 12 wins in its first 13 games. That's the only other time a Midwestern State squad was 9-1 through the first 10 games.
- MSU is 8-1 for just the third time in program matching the 2003-04 and 1989-90 squads.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON STORM
- Southern Nazarene dropped to 5-5 on the season by taking a 77-64 loss to Rogers State Tuesday night in Claremore, but the Crimson Storm has been golden at home sporting a 4-1 mark at Sawyer Center with their lone loss coming 87-72 to Central Oklahoma on Dec. 2.
- Senior center Aminata Fall has been a force for Southern Nazarene leading the Crimson Storm scoring 21.7 points per game as the 6-footer from Dakar, Senegal connects on 41.2 percent from 3-point range.
- Fall dominates on the defensive end of the floor ranking second in NCAA Division II with 5.0 blocks per game, fifth in rebounds (13.0 per game) and second in defensive rebounds (11.0 per game). She boasts a national best eight double-doubles this season.
- Fall went for seven points and 15 rebounds in an 89-80 loss to Midwestern State last season at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- Fall boasts six games scoring at least 20 points and is coming off of a season 33-point outing Tuesday at Rogers State.
- Sophomore guard Abby Boyd is the only other SNU player averaging in double figures with 14.3 points per game. She has scored 10-or-more points in seven straight games including a season-high of 22 against Arkansas-Monticello.
- Southern Nazarene's Derek Dorris is 38-29 (.567) in his third season at the helm for the Crimson Storm.

- Midwestern State and Southern Nazarene meet for the 16th time on the hardwood Saturday afternoon in Bethany.
- The Mustangs own a slim 8-7 edge in the series which dates back to the 1976-77 season.

- Midwestern State matched the best start in program history through nine games by improving to 8-1 for the third time (2003-04, 1989-90) by claiming a 73-70 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- The Mustangs improved to 6-1 at Ligon Coliseum this season with the only loss coming to top-ranked Emporia State (Kan.).
- The current group of seniors are 40-8 (.833) on Gerald Stockton Court.
- Midwestern snapped Lubbock Christian's 17-game road winning streak Saturday at Ligon Coliseum. It was the longest active road winning streak in NCAA Division II.

Dianna Jones (Hewitt, Texas / Midway HS) poured in a season-high 24 points connecting on 7-of-14 shots from the field with two 3-pointers while going 8-of-10 from the charity stripe Saturday against Lubbock Christian.

Jones has scored at least 20 points in each of her last two games and scored in double figures in each of her last eight games.

Andrea Carter (Angleton, Texas / Angleton HS) notched her sixth double-double of the season going for 15 points and 12 rebounds Saturday night against Lubbock Christian.

Carter, who leads the Lone Star Conference averaging 12.0 rebounds per game, has grabbed at least 10 boards in six of her last seven games.

Shambreka Jones (Mesquite, Texas / Poteet HS (Charleston Southern)) scored a season-high points with two blocks and two steals Saturday against Lubbock Christian.
- Senior guard
Lisa Hampton (Kennedale, Texas / Nolan Catholic HS) knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with nine points Saturday against Lubbock Christian.

Hampton has accounted for at least three treys in each of her last seven games while shooting 23-for-45 (.511) from the arc.

Hampton moved into a tie for fifth place on MSU's all-time 3-pointers made list with Trish Young (1990-92) and
Kirsti Degelia (2010-14) with 111 triples.

Hampton needs five treys to move into third passing Julie Lovett (115 3s from 1993-97) and Mindy Myers (112 3s from 1990-94).

Shatoia Gober (Waco, Texas / Midway HS) dished out a season-high seven assists Saturday against Lubbock Christian.

THE JOHNSON ERA

Noel Johnson is in her seventh season at the helm of the Midwestern State basketball program.
- Johnson boasts a 98-78 record (.557) while leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II postseason in each of the last two seasons including a trip to the South Central Region finals in 2013.
- Midwestern claimed its first NCAA wins taking down Tarleton State and Metro State (Colo.) in 2013 before falling to No. 4 Colorado Mesa in the regional final.
- Johnson led the Mustangs to its first Lone Star Conference championship in 12 seasons claiming the 2012-13 title.
- Johnson garnered Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 before earning Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Small College Coach of the Year accolades in 2013.
