ON THE COURT
Midwestern State shoots for its eighth consecutive win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum Tuesday night against Henderson State. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE REDDIES
- Henderson State split a pair of Great American Conference games last week to fall to 2-2 on the season.
- The Reddies own wins against Texas A&M-Kingsville (65-61) and Southeastern Oklahoma (75-48) while suffering losses to Lake Erie (68-59) and East Central (Okla.) (88-75).
- "Big" Reggie Murphy paces the HSU attack scoring 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The 6-9, 260-pournd senior has hit 17 of his last 21 shots from the field (.810) over the past two games. Murphy has scored in double figures in each of the Reddies' four games this season.
- Efficient sophomore guard Kevin Kozan has knocked down 52.9 percent of his shots from the field and is 11-of-21 from 3-point range (52.4 percent) this season. The 6-foot, 175-pounder averaged 11.8 points per game.
- Sophomore guard Charles Wesley and senior forward Micah Walker chip in 9.3 points apiece.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and Henderson State meet for the fifth time on the hardwood Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- The Mustangs have won each of the previous four meetings including two at Ligon Coliseum -- 75-74 on Nov. 18, 1976 and 87-71 on Jan. 5, 1980.
- MSU claimed the last meeting between the teams by a 66-64 margin on Nov. 14, 1999 as part of the Disney Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
Midwestern State rebounded to take wins over Oklahoma Science & Arts (86-65) and Colorado State-Pueblo (68-57) to improve to 3-1 on the season.
- Each of MSU's three wins this season has been by double figures.
- The 19-point effort against Colorado State-Pueblo by redshirt-freshman Devante Pullum (Little Elm, Texas / Little Elm HS) were the most points scored by a freshman since Marquette Wilkins scored 21 points at Angelo State on March 2, 2001.
- Junior forward Khapri Alston (Chicago, Ill. / Thornwood HS (Northeast CC (Neb.))) scored a season-high 19 points and pulled down five rebounds in MSU's 86-65 win over USAO Tuesday night at Ligon Coliseum.
- Junior guard Bretson McNeal (Minneapolis, Minn. / DeLaSalle HS (North Dakota State Science)) has scored in double figures in each of his first four games for the Mustangs.
- McNeal was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field including three 3-pointers in the second half of MSU's 68-57 win over Colorado State-Pueblo as he scored 14 of his 16 points after intermission.
- McNeal ranks third in the LSC in scoring at 18.5 points per game and is fourth in the league hitting 2.8 3-pointers a contest.
- Junior guard Hershell Grant (Washington, D.C. / Roosevelt HS (Clarendon College)) averaged 10 points and five rebounds while making his first two starts of the season last week in wins over USAO and Colorado State-Pueblo.
- Senior forward Xavier Blackburn (Verdunville, La. / St. Thomas More HS (North Dakota State Science)) snared 10-or-more rebounds for the second time this season finishing with 11 boards Sunday against Colorado State-Pueblo.
- Senior Derrell Gibbs (Wichita Falls, Texas / Burkburnett HS) has not committed a turnover in 81 minutes of court time over MSU's first four games of the season.
- Senior guard Kevin Wagner (Lubbock, Texas / Estacado HS (McLennan CC)) dished out a season-high five assists in MSU's win over Colorado State-Pueblo.
 
THE HAGGERTY ERA
- Nelson Haggerty enters his fourth season at the helm for Midwestern State as one of the top young coaches in college basketball.
- Haggerty boasts a 78-22 mark (.780) leading the Mustangs to Lone Star Conference championships in each of his three seasons as head coach.
- Haggerty earned NABC South Central Region and Lone Star Conference coach of the year honors in his rookie season of 2011-12 piloting the Mustangs to their third consecutive Elite Eight showing.
- With Haggerty on the bench (including two seasons as top assistant), MSU has advanced to three Elite Eights (2010, 2011, 2012) and to the NCAA Division II postseason five consecutive years.
 
DOME MAGIC
- Midwestern State boasts a 544-128 all time mark (.810) in the 46-year history of D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- MSU won 70 consecutive games under the dome from Jan. 5, 1973 to Jan. 24, 1977 then peeled off 41 straight victories from Nov. 18, 2008 to Feb. 16, 2011.
- The Mustangs are 38-4 (.905) at Ligon Coliseum during Nelson Haggerty's tenure at the helm (2011-present).
- Midwestern's current home winning streak is seven games dating back to an 83-81 loss to Tarleton State on Jan. 15, 2014.
