SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
Texas A&M-Kingsville comes to Ligon Coliseum with a 7-9 overall record, 2-4 in Lone Star Conference play after defeating Cameron 60-48 on Wednesday night at home in Kingsville. Coach Michael Trujillo's Javelinas are led by junior guard Lindsey Mahone of Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll, a transfer from Angelo State who averages 12.8 points (sixth in the LSC), to go with a team-leading 6.7 rebounds (fifth in the LSC) and 2.3 steals a game (second in the LSC). Senior guard Rosalie Cutri of Waterloo Corner, Australia, a transfer from Boise State, adds 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 steals in 11 games (too few to qualify for LSC ranking). Sophomore guard Ashley Viera of Corpus Christi, Texas/Ray chips in 10.5 points (16th in the LSC) to go with 3.0 rebounds and adds 2.9 assists (12th in the LSC) to go with her 1.5 3-point field goals per game (ninth in the LSC). TAMUK is averaging 69.0 points a contest, while allowing opponents 71.4 points a game.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville for the 36th time when the Javelinas visit Wichita Falls on Saturday. Midwestern State leads the series 20- 15, and holds an 11-6 record against TAMUK at Ligon Coliseum. The series is tied at 9-9 at Kingsville. MSU has won five straight against the Javelinas including a 61-52 win on Feb. 2, 2013 at Wichita Falls and a 75-63 triumph in Kingsville on Dec. 1, 2012. The last win for TAMUK over MSU was on Jan. 26, 2011 in Kingsville when the Javelinas claimed an 85-65 win that capped a six-game win streak over the Mustangs.
LAST TIME OUT VS. TAMUK
Midwestern knocked off Texas A&M-Kingsville 61-52 at Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls. MSU and TAMUK exchanged the lead twice before Midwestern went on a 12-2 run and never looked back on their way to a 10th straight win under the Dome. The Mustangs played all 14 players allowed to dress for the contest. MSU was led by Lisa Hampton who scored a season-high 17 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers to go with her three assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Andrea Carter posted 11 points and nine rebounds with three steals. Kirsti Degelia scored only six points, but recorded five assists and three blocks. Senior Ashley Rush also tallied five assists with seven points. MSU shot 52.2 percent from the floor (24-of- 46), and hit 7-of-13 3-pointers (53.8 percent), while racking up 6-of-10 from the foul line (60.0 percent).

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State is 11-7 on the season, 3-4 in Lone Star Conference action. Coach Noel Johnson's Mustangs are led by junior All-America forward Andrea Carter who is averaging 14.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals to rank third in the LSC in all three categories, while posting 0.4 blocks per game (11th in the LSC). Senior guard Kirsti Degelia adds 10.9 points (11th in the LSC) with 1.3 three-pointers a game (10th in the LSC), to go with 2.9 assists (10th in the LSC) and 1.3 steals (14th in the LSC). Junior guard Dianna Jones adds 10.3 points a game (17th in the LSC) to go with her 4.6 assists (second in the LSC), 1.5 steals (ninth in the LSC) and her LSC leading 1.81 assist-turnover ratio. Junior guard Shatoia Gober chalks up 7.4 points a contest, as she pulls down 4.9 rebounds (16th in the LSC) with 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals. MSU averages 69.5 points a contest, while allowing 65.7.

The Mustangs saw ties at 2 and 4 before going on an 8-0 run and never trailed in the game, defeating Angelo State 67-63 on Wednesday night at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo. The Mustangs built a 14-point second half lead, but withstood a 9-2 run by the Rambelles late to win the game. Andrea Carter collected her seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds to go with five steals against the Belles. Kirsti Degelia hit three 3-pointers on her way to 13 points as well. Dianna Jones added eight points to go with her six assists. The Mustangs shot 41.1 percent from the floor (23-of-56), including 7-of-22 from the arc (31.8 percent) and shot 70.0 percent from the foul line (14-of-20), but were outrebounded by the Rambelles 36-33.
MSU UNDER NOEL JOHNSON
Noel Johnson is 83-72 in her sixth year as the head coach of the Mustangs. She was the Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year in 2012 after turning the program around with a 19-8 season, then earned the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year award for leading MSU to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 with a 26-6 record and the Lone Star Conference Championship.
MSU IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Midwestern State started the season at number 10 in the WBCA's USA Today Sports Division II Top 25, but early losses dropped them to the first team receiving votes for the next three weeks. The Mustangs are currently not receiving votes in the poll.
