The Mustangs are out to hold their ground as they have a second place showdown at Tarleton State on Saturday.
Midwestern State (19-5, 14-4) snapped a two-game skid by beating Texas A&M-Commerce 70-62 on Wednesday. Tarleton (17-6, 13-5) was upset by Cameron 53-51 in Lawton on Wednesday.
Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State plays its final regular season road game as the Mustangs square off against Tarleton State .
MSU is in second in the Lone Star Conference, a game behind Abilene Christian for the LSC lead and a half game in front of Tarleton State in third.
The Mustangs are paced by the powerful duo of junior Kirsti Degelia and sophomore Andrea Carter.
Degelia, who was the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 14 after chalking up a career-high 27 points against Tarleton State, leads the Mustangs offensively. The honorable mention All-Lone Star Conference performer a season ago is a junior from Denton, Texas/Krum who is fourth in the LSC in scoring with 15.6 points a game (96th in Division II), and is third in the league with 3.5 assists a contest while grabbing 4.3 rebounds a game.
Carter has picked up the LSC Defensive Player of the Week award for the four times to go with the LSC Offensive Player of the Week award she collected earlier this season. She has posted 13 double-doubles in 24 games this season (eighth in Division II). The sophomore from Angleton is second on the team and ninth in the LSC with a 12.5 scoring average, while standing fifth in the LSC with a 49.1 field goal percentage (107-of-218). She leads the squad, is second in the LSC and 19th nationally with 10.4 rebounds and is second in the conference with 2.5 steals a contest (59th in Division II).
Sophomore Shatoia Gober of Waco, Texas/Midway contributes 9.6 points a contest to go with her 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals an outing. She is also shooting 47.7 percent from the floor (92-of-193).
MSU is averaging 68.2 points with 39.5 rebounds a game. The Mustangs allow opponents 59.4 points a contest.
ABOUT THE TEXANNS
Tarleton State suffered its second loss in 11 days that put Midwestern back into second place, a half-game ahead of TSU with the loss to Cameron.
The TexAnns of coach Ronnie Hearne are 17-6 overall, 13-4 in the LSC.
Junior forward Kiara Wright of Pittsburg, Texas leads the squad and the Lone Star Conference with 17.4 points (44th nationally),13.8 rebounds a game (tops in Division II) and a 60.3 field goal percentage (third nationally).
Junior guard Peyton Adamson of Rockwall, Texas is second on the team and third in the LSC with15.9 points a contest (81st in DII) to go with LSC leading 46.8 3-point percentage (second in DII) and 2.8 3-pointers per game and LSC leading 88.7 free throw percentage.
Junior guard Brianna Bledsoe of Stephenville averages 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds.
The TexAnns average 73.0 points a game (second in the LSC), while allowing 64.3 ppg (eighth in the LSC).
ABOUT THE SERIES Midwestern State faces Tarleton State for the 58th time when they meet at Wisdom Gym on Saturday evening.
Midwestern State holds a 30-27 lead in the series that dates back to the 1975-76 season.
Tarleton holds a 14-12 lead in the series in Stephenville, thanks to a seven-game winning streak by the TexAnns at Wisdom Gym.
This is the second meeting of the season for MSU and TSU. The Mustangs posted a 78-71 overtime victory at Ligon Coliseum on Jan. 12, as Midwestern snapped a 14-game losing streak to Tarleton State.
That streak followed an MSU eight-game winning streak in the series.
Last season, the TexAnns swept the Mustangs by winning 77-62 in Stephenville on Jan. 28, 2012, and then taking a 66-61 triumph at Ligon Coliseum on Feb. 13, 2012.
The last time MSU defeated Tarleton in Stephenville was on Jan. 2, 2003, when Midwestern won 84-80.
