ABOUT THE MUSTANGS

Midwestern State bounced back from its second loss of the season by hanging on for a 79-78 win over Abilene Christian Tuesday night on the road at Moody Coliseum.

The Mustangs remain two games back from Tarleton State with six games remaining in the race for the Lone Star Conference championship, but have no worse than a No. 6 seed in next month's league postseason tournament in Allen.

MSU get the perfect tonic to start its stretch run Saturday night - a return to its home floor at D.L. Ligon Coliseum where the Mustangs have won 50 of their last 51 games dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Midwestern also faces an Angelo State side who has struggled mightily under the dome as the Rams have lost in 19 straight trips to Wichita Falls dating back to 1988.

The Mustangs will look for continued strong play out of junior forward Anthony Harris, who has paced the team with 20 points in each of his last two games.

The 6-7 forward performs best at Ligon Coliseum where he averages 16.1 points and 6.7 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game this season.

Senior guard Michael Loyd has scored in double figures in nine of his last 10 games and has connected on 3-pointers in each of his last nine outings.

Senior guard Keonte' Logan has been on fire from the arc over the last eight games connecting at a 42.9-percent clip. He is averaging 6.8 points a game during the span to go along with 4.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.

ABOUT THE RAMS

Angelo State has won three of five games since suffering a season-long eight-game skid from Dec. 7-Jan. 11.

But the Rams (9-12, 2-9) have struggled mightily away from Junell Center this season and are still looking for their first true road win of the season at 0-8.

Yet, ASU is still in the thick of the race for the final berth in next month's Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament in Allen. The Rams are currently tied with Abilene Christian in eighth place and are half-game behind Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Five players carry the load for Angelo State averaging over 30 minutes of floor time each.

Junior guard Keenen Coleman paces a trio of Angelo State players in double figures averaging 15.6 points a game while pulling in 5.2 rebounds. Coleman has paced the Rams in three of the last four games and has scored 20-or-more points four times this season including a season high 35 against Arlington Baptist.

Junior guard Javae King-Gilchrist adds 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while junior guard Hanif Nixon-Hughes adds 11.5 points and 5.7 boards a contest.

Senior forward LaDonn Huckaby has scored 9.0 points and snagged 4.8 rebounds a game since returning for the spring semester.
