MUSTANGS FAST BREAK
LAST TIME OUT: Midwestern State overcame a 10-point deficit with just over four minutes to play in regulation to force extra sessions before eventually falling to Arkansas Tech in double overtime by a 75-73 margin. Senior forward
Corbin Thomas led the way recording his third double-double of the season with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard

HOMECOURT STREAK SNAPPED: The loss to Arkansas Tech snapped a 19-game home court winning streak which was the third longest in program history. The Mustangs won 70 consecutive games at D.L. Ligon Coliseum from Jan. 5, 1973 to Jan. 24, 1977 then had a 41-game winning streak from Nov. 18, 2008 to Feb. 21, 2011. The streak was the fourth longest active streak in NCAA Division II behind Shorter (26), Bellarmine (22) and Newman (22).

JECKYLL & HYDE: Midwestern State has trailed at halftime in each of its last six games and in seven of nine games this season. To compound that, the Mustangs have faced double-digit opening half deficits in each of its last five games. MSU shoots just 39.8 percent as a team and is out-rebounded by a narrow -0.2 margin prior to intermission. On the flip side, Midwestern has outscored the opposition in the second half in each of their nine games by an average margin of 9.2 points a game. The Mustangs connect on 48.3-percent of their shots from the field after intermission while out-rebounding the opposition by a +8.8 margin.

POUNDING THE GLASS: Midwestern State has out-rebounded the opposition in each of its nine outings this season as the Mustangs lead the Lone Star Conference in rebounding margin (+8.8), offensive rebounds per game (16.0) and offensive rebound percentage (42.9). MSU has converted 144 offensive rebounds into 147 second chance points which accounts for an astounding 22.2-percent of its total scoring output.

MSU CLOBBERING NON-D1/D2 OPPOSITION: Midwestern State has won its last 45 games against non-NCAA Division I/II opponents and is 50-2 against those foes since joining NCAA Division II ranks at the start of the 1996-97 season including a perfect 37-0 mark at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. MSU last loss against a non-DI/II opponent came at Texas Lutheran (120-114) on Nov. 17, 1997.

NEXT TIME OUT: Midwestern State enjoys a two-week hiatus for Christmas break following Monday night's game. The Mustangs begin a four-game road swing on New Year's Eve at Eastern New Mexico with a 5 p.m. (Central) start time. Then MSU continues on the road against Abilene Christian (Jan. 3), Angelo State (Jan. 5) and Texas A&M-Commerce (Jan. 9).

Mid-America Christian (4-4) has played seven of its eight games this season off of its home floor at Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City. The Evangels bring a two-game losing streak into Monday night's matchup which they will count as the third of four scrimmages this season.

In its other tabbed scrimmages, MACU claimed an 87-84 win over Central Oklahoma on Nov. 20 and took an 87-63 loss at Oklahoma Christian on Dec. 6 -- both are NCAA Division II members. The Evangels close out the scrimmage sessions this week at MSU and Arkansas Tech.
