About the Mustangs

It's time for Midwestern State to make its run in 2010-11.

A victory over Eastern New Mexico tonight would give the Mustangs its first road win of the season and give MSU momentum heading into a stretch where it plays four of five games in the comfortable confines of D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU is coming off of its worst loss of the season by an 88-57 count Saturday night at Tarleton State as junior forward Jazman Patterson was the lone Mustang in double figures at 12 points and six rebounds.

Patterson has scored in double figures in three of her last four games including 12 points at Incarnate Word before scoring 10 at Texas A&M-Kingsville and four against West Texas A&M.

The 5-10 forward from Southlake pulled her season averages to 6.8 points and 6.9 rebounds a game during the stretch.

The Mustangs were without the services of senior forward Nolisha Markham against the TexAnns who missed the contest due to injury.

The senior forward leads the team scoring 14.1 points and pulling down 6.9 rebounds a contest.

About the Zias

Eastern New Mexico has lost five of its last six games and is coming off of a 62-50 home loss to Incarnate Word Saturday night at Greyhound Arena.

The Zias (4-15, 2-5) are paced by junior forward Precious Herrin who notches 15.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Eleven different ENMU players average at least 10 minutes a game as four other Zias score at least five points a game including senior guard Cat Clay (7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds), sophomore guard Krista Ford (7.2 points, 2.1 rebounds), junior guard Kiara Tate (6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds) and senior guard Vanessa O'Neal (6.7 points, 4.1 rebounds).

The Zias score 61.3 points a game and allow 69.3.

About the Series

Midwestern State meets Eastern New Mexico for the 33rd time on the hardwood Wednesday night at Greyhound Arena.

The series is knotted at 16-16 as the Mustangs have claimed three of the last five wins over Zias.

Senior forward Nolisha Markham (21 points, six rebounds) and junior Cierra Thompson (19 points, five rebounds) combined 40 points to lift Midwestern to a 74-62 win over ENMU last month in Wichita Falls.

The Zias own a slip 9-6 edge over MSU in Portales with the Mustangs' last victory coming by a 64-59 margin on Feb. 14, 2009.

Midwestern is going for just its third season sweep of the Zias as it won both games in 2003 and 2009.

ENMU won both games last season.
