GAME DAY: Midwestern State looking to break long draught at Angelo State

Midwestern State goes for its fourth straight win in Monday night's Lone Star Conference tilt at Angelo State.

The 'Belles (3-5, 0-1) have dropped three of their last five games including a 56-50 setback last Wednesday at Cameron.

Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

About the Mustangs

Midwestern State rolls into its first Lone Star Conference road contest of the 2011-12 campaign having won its last three games.

But the Mustangs haven't won four in a row since closing the 2003-04 campaign with four victories to narrowly miss a Lone Star Conference Championship berth with a 19-8 mark.

MSU boasts five double-figure scorers this season led by senior guard Savannah Carver.

The Amarillo native ranks amongst LSC leaders with 16.2 points per game while connected on 2.3 3-pointers a contest.

Sophomore guard Kirsti Degelia adds 13 points a game to go along with 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds a game.

Freshman guard Dianna Jones is the Mustangs' spark plug scoring 12.8 points a game while connecting on a pair of treys. The Waco Midway High product pitches in 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Senior forward Cierra Thompson adds 11 points and 6.5 rebounds , while frosh guard Shatoia Gober adds 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds a contest.

About the 'Belles

Angelo State has struggled to a 3-5 mark this season, but had a modest two-game winning streak snapped last Wednesday at Cameron.

The 'Belles play seven girls more than 20 minutes per game game and are paced by senior center Paige Weishuhn.

The Wall, Texas native scores 13.5 points and pulls down 6.8 rebounds per game.

Junior forward Morgan Youngblood adds 9.6 points a game while freshman forward Haylee Oliver drops in 9.5 points a contest.

Sophomore forward Lauren Holt adds an inside presence for the 'Belles with 8.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, while sophomore guard Leah LeMaire scores 7.0 points a game.

About the Series

Midwestern State and Angelo State meet for the 52nd time on the hardwood Monday night at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

The Rambelles own a 27-23 edge in the series which dates back to the 1978-79 season.

Angelo State has won four the last five games in the series.

The 'Belles have won the last 13 games against MSU and all nine contests between the programs at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

The Mustangs last won in San Angelo during the 1996-97 season when they claimed a 70-61 victory on Jan. 23, 1997.
