WICHITA FALLS, Texas - No. 7 Midwestern State gave Tarleton State its best shot Wednesday night's victory at Wisdom Gym.

Craig Green's best shots for the Mustangs to secure a series sweep over the Texans Saturday night as the senior guard poured in a career-high 33 points to lead MSU to a 72-69 win.
Midwestern took over sole possession of the Lone Star Conference South Division lead by extending its homecourt winning streak to 23 games while improving to 21-1 on the season and 6-1 in divisional play.
Tarleton State certainly gave the Mustangs its best shot as the Texans jumped out to an early lead then extended it to 48-40 on Donta Smith's layup with 14:32 to go.
Then it was Green to the rescue.
The Keller product hit the opening 3-pointer of the second half, then scored 17 points in the final 8:27 of the game.
His first three buckets in the stretch tied the contest before his fifth trey gave the Mustangs a 64-61 advantage with 5:14 to play and the Texans would never lead again.
Green hit 3-of-4 from the free throw line in the final 3:42, then hit a tough jumper with a hand in his face from 17 feet out gave the Mustangs a 71-69 advantage with 49 seconds to go.
The Mustangs weathered a barrage of Tarleton offensive rebounds in the closing seconds before
Charlie Logan ripped down a rebound and was sent to the charity stripe with 9.5 seconds left.
Logan hit the first toss and missed the second, but the Texans were unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.
Junior guard
Chris Hagan added 13 points and five assists, while Logan finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Devon Hills, who fouled out in 22 minutes, paced the Texans with 16 points, while Jeremiah Wilson added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Midwestern State faces West Texas A&M Wednesday night in Canyon. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. or 25 minutes after the women's contest which begins at 6.
Tarleton State slipped to 17-5 on the season and 5-2 in the LSC South.
