Midwestern goes Green, pounds Wildcats 96-83

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -  Craig Green poured in 27 points to lead Midwestern State to a 96-83 Lone Star Conference South Division win over Abilene Christian Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 24-2 on the season and 9-2 in division play.

MSU can clinch at least a share of its second-straight LSC South Division title and the top seed in the LSC Championships which will be played at Bruin Fieldhouse in Bartlesville, Okla. from March 3-7 with a win over Angelo State Wednesday night in D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

The Mustangs came out smoking from the 3-point arc where they would hit 10-of-17 as Green led the way with four from beyond the arc, while Chris Hagan hit three and Jason Ebie added two.

MSU raced out to a 31-14 led on the strength of a 13-2 run midway through the first half after Hagan converted a fast break layup off of one of Ebie's season-high 11 assists.

Ebie finished with his third double-double of the season while adding 13 points and five rebounds to an all-around line.

Green proved lethal from the perimeter where he hit for 7-of-13 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the 3-point arc and 9-of-9 from the charity stripe, while Hagan finished with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting with a block and two steals.

Senior forward Anthony Moore matched a season-high with 19 points and added seven rebounds.

Eddie Thompson paced a group of four ACU players in double figures finishing with 19 points.

Abilene Christian slipped to 8-17 and 1-9.
