DENTON, Texas - Kristen Stonecipher had two more hits and crushed her second home run in as many games Saturday afternoon against St. Edward's at the Texas Woman's Tournament at Ryan High School.
But the Hilltoppers used homers from Kristen Lozano and Melissa McSheffery to outlast Midwestern State 11-7.
The Mustangs fell to 3-4, while the St. Edward's improved to 7-3 on the season.
The Hilltoppers jumped on Mustangs' starter Brittany Tanner for three runs on two hits in the first inning highlighted by Lozano's two-run shot to give St. Edward's the early lead.

St. Edward's surged back into the lead with a five-run third inning as Karen Varteressian laced a two-run single down the left-field line before McSheffery smashed Tanner's 2-2 offering for a three-run home run to center field.
The Mustangs responded with a four runs in the bottom of the inning as Stonecipher lined a homer to right-center field and
Tabitha Yannetti spotted a run-scoring single down the right field line.
But that's as close as the Mustangs could get as St. Edward's Diana Ciseaux came on in relief of ace Robin Becker in the third inning and limited the Mustangs to a pair of hits, while striking out six in 4 1/3 inning of work.
Midwestern State had touched up Becker for seven runs - five earned - on nine hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Tanner took the loss for the Mustangs to fall to 1-2 while allowing nine runs - eight earned - on seven hits in four innings.

Maranda Bishop paced an 11-hit MSU attack with three hits.
