DURANT, Okla. – Daniel Polk accounted for five touchdowns to lead No. 23 Midwestern State to a 41-19 Lone Star Conference crossover win over Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon at Paul Laird Field.
The 6-2, 202-pound senior completed 18-of-27 passes for 296 yards and two scores, and rushed for 73 yards and three more TDs to pace a 538-yard offensive attack for the Mustangs.
Polk finished the day with a season-high 369 yards of total offense as Midwestern State rolled to its second-straight win to improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Mustangs have now won 22-straight games against competition hailing from Oklahoma, including all 19 since the
Bill Maskill era began in 2002. MSU is now 21-1 in LSC crossover contests under the direction of Maskill.
MSU got off to a fast start as B.J. Mathis returned the opening kickoff 64 yards to the Southeastern 31-yard line, then Polk connected with tight end
Chad Olson for a touchdown on the next play to give MSU a 6-0 lead 20 seconds into the contest.

The teams would exchange touchdowns before the end of the first quarter as Polk rushed 12 yards for his first score of the afternoon before Noohi answered with a 10-yard TD of his own to knot the game at 13-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Polk capped an eight-play, 98-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter after hitting passes of 21 yards to
DelJuan Lee and 30 yards to
Sasan Faradineh to key the drive.
The Mustangs stretched the advantage to 41-13 before the Savage Storm scored as time expired.
Freshman
Marcus Mathis paced the MSU ground attack with 77 yards on 13 carries including a 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Junior B.J. Mathis added 64 yards on eight carries as the Mustangs tallied 242 rushing yards.
Lee, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, caught seven passes for 99 yards, while
Robert Wells had five receptions for 71 yards, including a 15-yard TD to start the fourth quarter.
Midwestern State, which limited the Savage Storm offense to 293 total yards, was led by freshman safety
Ryan Craven, who had eight tackles.

Jacob Martin each added seven tackles, while
Patrick Roberts had an interception.
The Mustangs travels to Portales next Saturday to battle Eastern New Mexico. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CST.
