WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Midwestern State defeated Colorado Mesa 2-0 Thursday at Stang Park. MSU scored both goals in the second half and finished with a 16-6 advantage in shots, outshooting the Mavericks in the second half 12-4.
Midwestern State (3-0-0) extended its home unbeaten streak to 22 games and has not allowed an opponent more than five shots on goal in their last 22 games overall. The Mustangs limited Colorado Mesa (0-1-0) to three shots on frame.

Sloane Sullivan created the Mustangs' first chances, hitting the right woodwork at 5:03, taking another shot at 5:51 and helping the home side earn a corner at 5:57. CMU generated the next pressure, with Parker Mairs sending a shot out top at 14:07 before Short saved Shelby Lyon's attempt at 18:56, and the visitors followed with a corner at 19:05 during a stretch that included four fouls between the teams. MSU added later looks from
Morgan Countryman at 33:23 and
Sophie Ferro at 36:50, but neither team scored before halftime.
The second half opened with the Mustangs earning corner kicks at 45:35 and 46:53 before the Mavericks came back with corners at 50:23 and 51:04 as the match stayed scoreless. The half tightened through a foul-heavy stretch, and Short saved Coral Turner's shot at 59:37 before
Ella Adams put two MSU attempts toward goal, including one saved by Keely Wieczorek at 66:29. The Maroon & Gold broke through at 67:18 when
Izzy Amphlett scored off assists from Adams and
Lexi Gonzales, then kept pressure on with two corners and three shots before
Madison Brinkley scored at 73:25 from Gonzales and Countryman to make it 2-0. Short added another save on Vanessa Pirrello at 79:03, and the Mustangs recorded two late shots in the final two minutes to finish off the 2-0 win.
