WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 12-ranked Midwestern State swept its second straight opponent at MSU Tennis Center with a 7-0 victory against McKendree on Saturday afternoon and improved its record this season to 6-4.
Alessia Dolce clinched the win over the Bearcats with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Alessia Baiardi at No. 4 singles. Dolce improved to 4-4 in singles matches this season, and the sophomore from Italy is 1-1 in the No. 4 spot for the Mustangs.
Dolce and Hattie Berend clinched the doubles point for MSU with a 6-1 pasting of Emmy Zsigmond and Ivana Milkova at No. 3 doubles. The Mustangs' duo improved to 3-0 this season.
Emilia Gyorgy and Selin Sepken won their fourth straight doubles match and improved to 8-2 with a 6-0 victory over Kristina Bogomazova and Baiardi at No. 1 doubles.
Camila Garcia and Jasmine Crain are 10-0 at No. 2 doubles after defeating Lena Greefs and Keira Greefs at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.
Gyorgy posted her third straight victory and improved to 5-4 at No. 2 singles with a routine 6-1, 6-1 win over Bogomazova.
Garcia coasted to a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Milkova at No. 3 singles, improving her overall singles record to 8-2 with all eight wins coming in the No. 3 position.
No. 3-ranked Sepken dispatched Lena Greefs, 6-2, 6-2, improving to 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Mustangs this season.
Crain rolled to a third straight win with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 singles, and the freshman improved her overall singles record to 4-6.
Hattie Berend rallied at No. 6 singles to complete the sweep by defeating Zsigmond in a match tiebreak, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5. The junior from Wichita Falls picked up her first singles victory in four completed matches for the Mustangs.
Midwestern State returns to MSU Tennis Center on Monday for a dual match against Hillsdale. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
