WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State Men's Basketball's,
Jordan Reed, and Track & Field's,
Jessie Heath, have been recognized as MSU Student-Athletes of the Month for January, voted on by Midwestern State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Jordan Reed, Men's Basketball, Senior
Reed has been one of the senior leaders for Midwestern State Men's Basketball, playing over 20.6 minutes per game this season, while shooting 46.8% and starting 17 games this season. During January, Reed posted 13 points against Eastern New Mexico and 11 points during a win over Cameron. The senior played 21 minutes during the Mustangs victory over No. 16 West Texas A&M, securing six rebounds in the upset win.
Heath had a standout first month of 2026, earning Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week (1/27). The junior is the first Mustang to earn LSC Track Athlete of the week in the programs history (based on available records). Heath dashed to a provisional mark in the 400m, taking second place behind a Division I competitor, recording a season best time 56.08 (time adjusted, posted 56.82 on flat track). At the time, the mark in the 400m is the 5th fastest in the region, while being 18th in all of Division II.
