SAN ANTONIO – The final tournament of the fall campaign for Midwestern State is the NCAA West/South Central Region Preview at Dominion Country Club. The 54-hole tournament gets underway Monday morning.

In its last event, Midwestern State was one of four teams to finish under par at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite and finished in a third-place tie with Lubbock Christian at 7-under 845 in Amarillo.

Anniston McIlwain finished in a five-way tie for 11th place at 4-under 209 in the 90-player field. The junior from Bulverde, Texas, shot under par in all three rounds. McIlwain led the field on the par-3s, shooting 3-under on the short holes at Amarillo Country Club.

Jaxon Donaldson shot 2-over 73 in his final round and tied for 18th place at 2-under 211. Collin Moody finished in a four-way tie for 20th place at 1-under 212.

Midwestern State was the only team to shoot even-par or better and won the Rattler Invitational at Dominion Country Club last spring. The Mustangs shot 8-under in the first round and held on to the lead throughout the tournament, shooting 8-over in the final round to finish at even-par and 13 strokes ahead of St. Mary's, which hosted the event. The Mustangs won the tournament for the second time in three years.

Former Texas Open champion Bill Johnston designed the course at Dominion Country Club in Hill Country. The course is situated along the banks of Leon Creek and incorporates 25 acres of man-made lakes and more than 60 sand traps.

The field includes UT Tyler, Lubbock Christian, Dallas Baptist, Western New Mexico, Oklahoma Christian, Cameron, UT Permian Basin and the hosts from St. Mary's, which are all from the Lone Star Conference.

California State-East Bay, Westminster, Colorado State-Pueblo, Colorado Mesa, Westmont, Cal State-Dominguez Hills and Cal State-San Marcos round out the 16-team field.

The weather forecast for the two days calls for cloudy skies with easterly winds at 5-15 mph and high temperatures in the lower 80s.
