WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Ethan Krchnak, a junior defender from Pearland, Texas, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
No. 5-ranked Midwestern State won both of its games last week, including a 4-0 victory at Sul Ross State that clinched at least a share of the conference title. Krchnak had a goal and an assist in the win over the Lobos on Saturday. Krchnak played 84 minutes in a 4-1 victory over Lubbock Christian in the mid-week match at Stang Park last week.
Krchnak has seven assists this season, ranking him second in the league. He has been a key contributor during the defending national champions' 28-match unbeaten streak.
Krchnak is receiving the honor for the second time in his career at MSU. He also garnered the award last season following wins over Sul Ross State and Lubbock Christian.
Midwestern State can claim the regular season conference championship outright with a win or a draw against St. Mary's on Wednesday night. Kickoff at Stang Park is scheduled for 7 p.m.
