Bearden named a first-team PING All American

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Seth Bearden garnered PING All-America first-team honors as released Thursday by the Golf Coaches' Association of America.

The junior from Crowell led the Mustangs to an NCAA Division II postseason appearance for the 15th consecutive year as the Mustangs claimed three teams wins along the way.

MSU completed the campaign ranked 21st in the Clipped national team rankings. The Mustangs won their fifth Lone Star Conference Championships with a pair of dominating wins over Oklahoma Christian and Dallas Baptist in medal match play.

The Mustangs then finished seventh in the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional at the Victoria Club in Riverside, California, coming to within three strokes over a second trip to NCAA Division II Championships.

Bearden was the LSC Golfer of the Year and earned All-LSC first-team honors for the second consecutive season after posting an adjusted scoring average of 70.3 with an 89.7 finish percentage. He is ranked fifth in the Clipped national individual rankings.

Bearden notched five top-3 finishes, including a wins at The Dunning Invitational, Houston Classic, and Oak Tree Invitational. He also placed second at the Palm Valley Classic, while tying for eighth at the LSC Championships.

Bearden boasted 22 par-or-better scores this season, including 11 rounds in the 60s. He fired a season-low, 8-under 64 in the opening round of the Palm Valley Classic.

Bearden becomes the seventh All American in program program history and the third to earn first-team honors, joining Derek Oland (2014) and Jake Doggett (2022).
