CANYON, Texas -- – Sophomore
Sydney Linn and senior
Camile Nunez were recognized as Third Team All-Lone Star Conference members at the annual awards banquet prior to the 2025 Lone Star Conference Softball Tournament, which is hosted by top-seeded West Texas A&M.
Linn had a major impact on the Mustangs' offense in her first season with the team after transferring from Embry-Riddle. The left-hand hitting outfielder led MSU with a .388 batting average and an on-base percentage of .464. Linn had 57 hits in 50 games played this season and drove in 25 runs. Linn was second on the team with 10 steals, and the Wichita Falls native finished the season with six doubles, a triple and five home runs. Her slugging percentage of .544 was second on the team behind Nunez.
Nunez led the team with nine home runs and four triples. The reliable shortstop also hit 10 doubles to finish the campaign with a slugging percentage of .591. She led the Mustangs with 33 RBIs and 101 total bases this season. Nunez hit .327 and had at least one hit in 40 of her 51 starts this season. She finished second on the team with 56 total hits. The native of Madera, California, spent her final two seasons at Midwestern State after transferring from Texas A&M-Commerce.
Nunez was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in her final game as a Mustang at Lubbock Christian on Sunday. She finished her career at MSU with 100 hits in 102 games.
Midwestern State wrapped up the season with a record of 20-33 overall and 17-27 in conference play. The Mustangs finished 12th in the LSC and missed the postseason tournament for the ninth consecutive year.
