WICHITA FALLS, Texas – A new era in Midwestern State Softball begins on Jan. 30, as Head Coach
Kae Lani Bryan will led the Mustangs in her first season for the 2026 season. The Mustangs will face a 49-game slate in the regular season, including 40 Lone Star Conference games. MSU will have 10 conference doubleheaders (20 games) played at Mustangs Park, with the home opener scheduled for Feb. 15 against Lubbock Christian.
The Maroon & Gold start the season in Mansfield, Texas, playing five games in the Lone Star D2 College Classic. With all games being played at the Fields at Station 63, Midwestern State begins the season against Central Missouri and Rockhurst (Jan. 30), then faces Maryville and MSU Denver the next day (Jan. 31). MSU wraps up the opening weekend against Augustana (S.D.), playing the reigning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Champions on Sunday, Feb. 1. Midwestern State concludes non-conference play the following weekend at the Rogers State Festival, hosted in Claremore, Okla. The opening day of the tournament, Midwestern State will face Southern Nazarene and Southwestern Oklahoma State (Feb. 7). The next day, MSU wraps up the tournament with a game against the hosts, Rogers State, while playing SWOSU for a second time (Feb. 8).
The Mustangs conference opener will also serve as the home opener, with Lubbock Christian coming to Wichita Falls for a doubleheader on Feb. 15. The opening doubleheader with the Chaps, begins a six game home stretch for the Mustangs, with Angelo State (Feb. 20) and UT Permian Basin (Feb. 22) coming to Mustangs Park for conference doubleheaders.
Following the six game home stretch, the Mustangs embark on a 10 game conference road trip, beginning with a trip to Lawton, Okla. to face Cameron (Feb. 27). MSU stay in the Sooner State to begin March, facing Oklahoma Christian in Edmond for an LSC doubleheader on March 1. Midwestern State heads south for its next conference opponents, playing road doubleheaders against St. Mary's (Mar. 6) and St. Edward's (Mar. 8). The long three-week road stand ends on Mar. 15, as the Mustangs travel to Lubbock to face Lubbock Christian in a doubleheader.
Midwestern State makes their way home after the road stretch, facing Eastern New Mexico (Mar. 20) and West Texas A&M (Mar. 22). West Texas A&M claimed the West Division LSC title in 2025, along with a share of the LSC Regular Season Championship with an overall record of 56-8. MSU heads back on the road after the short home weekend, playing Texas Woman's (Mar. 27) and the defending back-to-back national champions UT Tyler (Mar. 29). The Patriots won their second straight national championship in 2025, going 62-5, winning the Lone Star Conference East Division, LSC Regular Season Championship, and Lone Star Conference Tournament title.
The Mustangs will be on home turf to begin April, facing Oklahoma Christian (Apr. 3) in an LSC doubleheader. The following week, Midwestern State will face UT Dallas (Apr. 12) for the first time in program history, traveling to Richardson, Texas to play the Comets. MSU play eight of their final 12 games of the season at home to conclude the regular season, beginning with a matchup against Texas A&M International (Apr. 17) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (Apr. 19). A road trip to UT Permian Basin (Apr. 24) and Angelo State (Apr. 26) rounds out the month of April, while the Mustangs conclude the regular season at home against Sul Ross State (May 1) and Western New Mexico (May 3).
The LSC Tournament will take place on May 6-8, hosted by the top seed in the league in the regular season, with the top nine teams making up the tournament field.
