FRISCO, TX -- Midwestern State struggled offensively in the second half and lost its quarterfinal match up with West Texas A&M at the 2025 Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Championship, 70-57, at Comerica Center on Friday afternoon.
The Mustangs took a 15-point lead with 4:52 to play in the first half and led by eight at intermission, 34-26, but the Buffaloes outscored MSU in the second half, 44-23, as the Mustangs were 9-of-28 from the field, including 2-of-11 from 3-point range, and hit just 3-of-8 free throws in the final 20 minutes.
Bakari LaStrap led the Mustangs (22-7) with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Reggie Hill also added six points and 12 rebounds.
West Texas A&M held the Mustangs' leading scorer this season — Mason Gibson — to two points on 1-of-12 shooting, and Pierre Sanders was just 2-of-14 and finished with four points. Sanders had four assists and two steals.Gibson grabbed seven rebounds for Midwestern State, which was outrebounded, 46-39.
