WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State hosts No. 12-ranked Lubbock Christian for the regular season finale on Thursday night. Tipoff at D.L. Ligon Coliseum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Midwestern State is 13-14 overall with an 11-10 conference record. The Mustangs enter the game tied with UT Permian Basin for the eighth and final spot in the Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship. A win over Lubbock Christian will clinch a berth in the postseason tournament for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs are coming off a 63-47 victory over Texas A&M International after
Zarria Carter secured her 16th double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Kerbie Cash finished with 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Cash also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists in Mustangs' third road win of the season.
Carter leads the conference in scoring (20.8 ppg), rebounding (10.9 rpg) and steals (2.6 spg). She has the third-best field goal percentage (54.1%). Carter is 219-of-405 from the field, and no one in the conference has converted more field goals or put up more shots than the 6-1 senior from Mansfield, Texas.
Carter is the 13th-leading rebounder in the country and the ninth-leading scorer. Carter leads the league with 16 double-doubles this season, and only three players in NCAA Division II have more double-doubles — Emily Chmiel of East Stroudsburg, Alisha Little of Colorado State-Pueblo and Michelle Kozicki of West Chester.
Carter is 124-of-169 (73.4%). from the free-throw line. She has made the second-most free throws and has the most attempts in the LSC. She has the ninth-best free-throw percentage in the conference.
Cash, a 6-2 freshman from Wylie, Texas, is the ninth-leading rebounder in the LSC with 7.5 boards per game, and she is the 11th leading scorer in the league with 13.7 points per game. In conference games, she averages 15.2 points and 8.2 rebounds.
Cash has also been productive at the free-throw line, hitting 100-of-140 (71.4%). She has the fifth-most made free throws in the LSC and the third-most attempts. Her free-throw percentage is 13th in the league.
The Mustangs have the second-most free-throw attempts per game in the conference with 20.9 and are shooting 69.7 percent (394-of-565) from the free-throw line as a team. The Mustangs have the second-most made free throws in the LSC with 14.6 per game.
Midwestern State is second in the league with 41 rebounds per game, which is 42nd in the nation, and MSU is grabbing 14.9 offensive rebounds per game, which leads the conference and is 22nd among NCAA Division II programs.
The Mustangs are scoring 63.9 points per game and holding their opponents to 63.6 points per game.
Carisa Cortez is dishing out 3.5 assists per game, which is fifth in the conference.
Midwestern State is forcing the fifth-most turnovers in the conference at 18.2 per game, and the Stangs are third in the league with 10.4 steals per game.
Carter leads the LSC with 69 total steals.
Calyssa Sevier is 12th in the conference with 46 steals, and Cash is 14th with 44 steals.

Midwestern State is 23-14 in the all-time series with Lubbock Christian but has lost its last 10 meetings with the Lady Chaps, who have won their last three visits to D.L. Ligon Coliseum after 14 consecutive losses.
The Mustangs forced Lubbock Christian into overtime under the dome last season. Carter scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Mustangs, who outscored Lubbock Christian in the fourth quarter, 19-8. The Lady Chaps escaped with a 68-61 victory.
Earlier this season, Grace Foster scored 22 points, dished out six assists and pulled down six rebounds as Lubbock Christian shot 51.7 percent from the field and defeated the Mustangs, 87-61, at Rip Griffin Center on Nov. 23.
Lubbock Christian has a 16-game winning streak and enters the contest with a 26-3 overall record, and the Lady Chaps are 20-1 in conference play. Their last loss was on Dec. 6 at Texas Woman's, 58-40.
Grace Foster is second in the league with 19.9 points per game, and she is third in the nation in 3-point percentage, hitting 70-of-144 shots (48.6%) from beyond the arc. She also has the second-best free-throw percentage in the league, hitting 132-of-150 attempts (88%). From the field, Foster is shooting 51.8 percent (188-of-363), which is fourth-best in the LSC.
Foster has received an LSC weekly honor eight times this season, and she is the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week. Foster was instrumental in road wins at Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville, averaging 22.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 51.7 percent from the field, 60 percent from three-point range, and 90 percent from the free-throw line.
Audrey Robertson is the second-leading scorer for the Lady Chaps with 12 points per game, and Maci Maddox is scoring 11.6 points per game.
Maddox is leading the conference with 4.1 assists per game. Maddox has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league at 2.98, which is third in the nation.
Lubbock Christian commits the fewest turnovers in the league at 12.1 per game, which is the fifth fewest in the nation.
The Lady Chaps are the fifth highest-scoring team in the conference with 68 points per game and have the third-best scoring defense, holding opponents to 52.9 points per game.
Lubbock Christian is the best 3-point shooting team in the LSC and fourth-best among NCAA Division II programs, shooting 38 percent from long range. MSU held the Lady Chaps to 27.3 percent shooting from 3-point distance in the first meeting of the season.
The Lone Star Conference Championship gets underway in Frisco on March 6 at Comerica Center.
