Men's Soccer Up to No. 8 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

The Mustangs achieve their highest ranking of the season, moving up one position to No. 8

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State Men's Soccer have moved up to its highest ranking of the season, being ranked No. 8 in the nation, based on the latest poll from the United Soccer Coaches Poll, announced the association on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs shift up in the poll following a 2-0-0 unbeaten week, taking down Lubbock Christian, 2-0, on the road, then winning their home regular season finale match against Sul Ross State, 2-0. MSU have looked strong through the conference campaign, holding a 7-2 standing in Lone Star Conference play. The Mustangs have won seven of their last eight matches, while allowing just three goals and scoring 18 goals in that time.

MSU were mentioned in the first regional rankings from the NCAA, being under consideration for the national tournament. The Mustangs are the only representative of the Lone Star Conference in the USC poll and the NCAA regional poll.

Midwestern State wrap up the regular season on the road, facing St. May's in San Antonio on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The Mustangs have booked their place in the Lone Star Conference Tournament, hosting a semifinal match on Wednesday. Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. at Stang Park.
