Mountaineers defeat Mustangs, 82-78

GUNNISON, Colo. — Midwestern State fell to Western Colorado, 82-78, in a closely contested game at Paul Wright Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs scored 24 points off Western Colorado's 22 turnovers, but it wasn't enough to secure the victory.

Midwestern State opened the game with a three-pointer by Charles Fofanah at 19:04, taking an early lead. However, Western Colorado quickly responded with a 3-pointer from Jordan Kuac at 18:47, tying the score. MSU narrowed the gap with contributions from Charles McClennahan Jr., who scored nine points in the period. Despite this effort, Western Colorado maintained a slight edge, ending the first half with a 42-36 lead.

McClennahan Jr. opened the second-half scoring with a jumper at 19:34, assisted by Jordan Reed. Davyon Butler was instrumental in the comeback, scoring multiple layups, including back-to-back baskets to tie the game 58-58 with 9:12 remaining.
