ROCKWALL, Texas – Midwestern State shot 8-over 296 in the final round at the DBU Classic on Tuesday, and the Mustangs finished fifth in the field of 15 teams at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club. 
No. 33-ranked Midwestern State shot 17-over 881 through 54 holes and finished 26 strokes behind No. 9-ranked St. Mary's, which was one of only two teams to shoot under par in the final round. The Rattlers finished 9-under for the tournament after posting the best final round in the field at 4-under.
No. 3-ranked Central Oklahoma finished in second place at 1-under followed by No. 25-ranked DBU at 2-over, and Southern Arkansas finished in fourth place at 4-over. Midwestern State finished five strokes better than 11th-ranked UT Permian Basin, which finished sixth at 22-over.
Seth Bearden, who is ranked No. 30 in the nation, had the best result for MSU with a 4-under 212 for the 54-hole tournament. The senior from Crowell, Texas, finished fourth and was just three strokes behind the winner, Kongpop Kaikaew of St. Mary's.
Bearden was under par in all three rounds, including a 2-under 70 on Tuesday. Bearden had four birdies over his final nine holes and finished with 10 birdies for the tournament.
The Mustangs carded the third-most birdies of any team in the field with 46 over three rounds. Southern Arkansas finished with 50, and St. Mary's recorded 48 birdies.
Ryan Griff finished tied for 12th on the player leaderboard at 2-over 218. Griff had four bogies over a six-hole stretch and finished his final round at 5-over 77 after shooting two rounds under par on Monday.
Anniston McIlwain closed with a 3-over 75 and tied for 33rd place after shooting 8-over for the tournament.
Nathan Nelson also shot 3-over par on Tuesday and finished tied for 48th place at 12-over. 
Hank Germany shot 4-over in his final round, and finished 73rd at 21-over for the tournament.
Chase Kisver, competing as an individual, shot 7-over on the final day of competition and finished 51st at 13-over.
Midwestern State has completed the fall schedule and will return to competition in February.
