AMARILLO, Texas – Midwestern State finished 10th at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational. The Mustangs, who were 4-under after the first two rounds, shot 8-over 292 in the final round at Amarillo Country Club and finished the 54-hole event at 4-over 856.
Seth Bearden, who shot even-par in the final round with four birdies over his final 10 holes, finished tied for 11th place at 4-under 209. Ken Gao of Odessa College won individual honors with a 13-under 200 through 54 holes, leading Odessa to the team title with a 30-under 822.
UT Permian Basin finished in second place 13 strokes behind the Wranglers. DBU (T3 8-under), Oklahoma Christian (T5 6-under), West Texas A&M (7th 3-under) and West Texas A&M (B) (T8 even-par) were Lone Star Conference teams that all finished ahead of Midwestern State.
UT Dallas finished a stroke behind the Mustangs at 5-over and Camron tied for 12th at 13-over. Lubbock Christian was 14th at 23-over, and Western New Mexico finished 15th out of 16 teams at 37-over.
Midwestern State shot 3-under on the par 3s and was 11-under on the par 5s during the 54-hole tournament, and the Mustangs finished with the seventh-most birdies, 49. Midwestern State had the sixth-most bogeys with 51.
Chase Kisver, who was competing as an individual, finished in 29th place at 1-over after shooting 1-over 72 in the final round.
Hank Germany and
Nathan Nelson both shot 2-over 73 in the third round, and Germany finished tied for 34th at 2-over 215 for the tournament. Nelson tied for 47th at 5-over 218.
Anniston McIlwain shot even-par through the first two rounds but finished 4-over 217 and tied for 43rd place.
Bryce Hoech shot a five-over 76 in the final round and finished tied for 63rd at 8-over 221.
Midwestern State will close out the fall campaign in two weeks when it visits Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club for the DBU Classic.
