Kerbie Cash erupted for a career-high 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while senior
Zarria Carter logged her fifth consecutive double-double to lead Midwestern State to a 67-61 win over Cameron Thursday for its sixth-straight victory at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs improved to 8-10 on the season, while moving to 6-6 in Lone Star Conference play, while Cameron lost its 12th-consecutive game to fall to 2-14 and 0-12.
MSU led from tip-to-buzzer for the second consecutive game, and used an 8-0 run powered by Carter and Cash to take a 36-24 lead into halftime.
The Mustangs extended the lead to 14 points in both the third and fourth periods before Cameron closed to within six in the closing minutes.
Cash connected on 9-of-16 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, and was 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. It was her first collegiate scoring 20-or-more points.
Carter need just 11 field goal attempts (with seven makes) to finish with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her LSC-leading 13th double-double of the season.
Sophomore
Emillia Steele chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while freshman
Carisa Cortez dished out a team-best four assists.
Senior guard Grace Alverson (18 points, six assists, four rebounds) and senior forward Shamica Smith (18 points, nine rebounds) paced the Aggie offensive.
Midwestern State takes on Oklahoma Christian Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
