DENTON, Texas --The Midwestern State volleyball team could not overcome an opposing Lions offense Saturday losing to Arkansas-Fort Smith in three sets (22-25, 16-25, 21-25) in the finale of the Denton Volleyfest Saturday night at Kitty Magee Arena.
The non-conference loss moved Midwestern State to 3-5 on the season, while UAFS improved to 5-2.
Peighton Serda and Riley Rabedeaux finished with eight kills each to lead the Mustangs attack. Defensively, the Mustangs had two players reach double figures in digs as Amy Dewalt had 15 and Brooke Parker had 12.
Midwestern State opens play in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Preview Thursday night at Eastern New Mexico. First serve at Greyhound Arena is set for 7 p.m. (Central Time).

SET 3 | Midwestern State was not able to win set three and was swept by Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Mustangs came up short by the score of 25-21. Midwestern State trailed by as many as six points as Arkansas-Fort Smith grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 in a set that was tied up three times before the Lions took over the lead.
