Argos sail to 4-0 win over Mustangs at UT Tyler Invitational

TYLER, Texas -- Midwestern State closed out the UT Tyler Invitational against No. 7-ranked West Florida, and the Argonauts handed the Mustangs a 4-0 loss at Summers Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

Midwestern State had won three straight dual matches, including victories over No. 23-ranked West Alabama and No. 19-ranked Auburn-Montgomery in Tyler. The Mustangs fell to 4-2 for the season, and West Florida improved to 4-4.

Sebastian Sotelo, ranked No. 17 in the nation, sealed the Mustangs' fate with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Killian Guillou at No. 2 singles. Guillou is 2-0 at No. 3 singles but fell to 1-3 at No. 2 singles for MSU.

Guillou and Germano Setti suffered a 6-4 loss to Albin Ekenros and Joaquin Estevez at No. 2 doubles as the Argonauts clinched the first point of the dual match.

Jordi Leston and Sotelo dismissed Juan David Duque and Marcal Miret Avante at No. 3 doubles, 6-0.

Setti was seeking a third straight win at No. 1 singles for the Stang Gang, but Sebastian Rondon rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory for West Florida.

Albin Ekenros gave the Argonauts a 2-0 lead when he dispatched Stephen Slocombe at No. 3 singles. Slocombe has lost back-to-back matches at No. 3 singles after starting the season 3-1 at No. 4 singles.
