WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Seth Bearden carded a tournament-high 10 birdies including a 3-under 68 in the second round of the Midwestern State Invitational Monday afternoon at the Wichita Falls Country Club.

The second round score was the lowest of the field, propelling the sophomore from Crowell into a tie for sixth place with a 2-over, 36-hole total of 144.

As a team, the Mustangs improved five strokes from an opening tally of 300 to fire a 295 in the second tour to finish opening day in a tie for fourth with a 27-over 595.

Odessa College (289-292) tops the field with a 13-over 581 as the Wranglers are trailed by Colorado Mesa (585/+17), UT Permian Basin (593/+25), MSU, and Dallas Baptist (595/+27).

Bearden opened the second round by going even over the first 11 holes before closing with four birdies and a bogey over the final seven holes. He also logged four birdies in the opening round, but took a quadruple bogey on the par-5, 560-yard 10th hole to finish with a 5-over 76.

Senior Robert Garcia carded a pair of 3-over 74s to tie for 12th, while junior Gatlin Goad tallied scores of 76 and 75 to tie for 26th with a 9-over 151.

Senior Keaton Dickens (74-78) tied for 33rd with a 10-over 152, while junior Trevor Walsh (79-80) tied for 74th with a 17-over 159.

Sophomore Hank Germany led the efforts of MSU's "B" team by firing scores of 76 and 74 to tie for 20th with an 8-over total of 150, while senior J.T. Boyd tied for 42nd, matching Germany with low honors in the second round after firing a 79. Boyd is tied for 42nd with an 11-over total of 153.

Midwestern State's "B" squad improved three spots from the first and second rounds, tallying totals of 308 and 303 for a 43-over, 36-hole total of 611.

Senior Kevin Yang (77-79) tied for 55th with a 14-over 156, finishing one stroke better than teammates James Perry (76-81) and Ethan Dean (81-76). Perry and Dean are tied for 61st.

Odessa College freshman Adam Bresnu tops the individual leaderboard after carding a 69 and 71 for a 2-under total of 140. He leads by one stroke over West Texas A&M's Wyatt Provence (72-69) and UT Permian Basin's Sangha Park (70-71).

The final round begins with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
