LUBBOCK, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Zarria Carter was simply brilliant for the Mustangs Thursday night at Rip Griffin Center.
The 6-1 junior forward from Mansfield erupted for a game-high 33 points on 14-of-19 shooting and completed her 10th double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.
In fact, Carter registered her eighth double-double in her last 10 games on her way to matching Texas Woman's standout Ashley Ingram for the Lone Star Conference lead at 10.
However, Carter proved to be a one-woman show for the Mustangs as the rest of her teammates combined to shoot 6-for-30 (20 percent).
Only
Zionna Barbee connected on more than one field goal as the sophomore guard buried two 3-pointers to match a campaign-high with six points.
Lubbock Christian proved to an even bigger challenge despite playing without All-America forward Grace Foster, who missed the game due to injury.
Senior guard Audrey Robertson picked up the slack, leading the Lady Chaps with 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting with two triples, while also pulling down six rebounds.
Senior Shaylee Stovall pitched in her best shooting night of the season, going 6-of-9 with three 3-pointers on the way to a campaign-high 15 points, while senior point guard Maci Maddox added 11 points and dished out six assists.
Lubbock Christian snapped a two-game slide to improve to 15-5 on the season and 10-3 in league play, while the Mustangs dipped to 5-15 overall and 5-9 against the LSC.
Midwestern State completes a four-game road trip Saturday afternoon against West Texas A&M at First United Bank Center. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
