WICHITA FALLS, TX --Will Shepherd and Reggie Hill both recorded double-doubles to help lead Midwestern State to a 93-48 victory over Arlington Baptist at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Friday night.
Shepherd had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Hill also finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Braedon Bigott was the leading scorer in the game with 16 points and two steals as the Mustangs improved to 8-2 and completed the non-conference portion of their schedule. Midwestern State remains undefeated at home with a 5-0 record under the dome this season.
Midwestern State shared the ball well in Friday's game, racking up 16 assists on 36 made field goals. Individually, Pierre Sanders led the way for the Mustangs with three assists.
Midwestern State did a great job disrupting Arlington Baptist shots, coming away with five blocks. Sanders led the way individually for the Mustangs with two rejections.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 5-4 advantage, Midwestern State went on a 14-0 run with 16:08 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Hill, to increase its lead to 19-4. The Mustangs then added 10 points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 40-15 advantage. Midwestern State hit 6-of-12 shots from 3-point range in the first half to account for 18 of its 40 points.
Following intermission, Midwestern State kept widening its lead, expanding it to 57-31 before going on an 8-0 run to take a 65-31 lead with 11:10 to go in the contest. The Mustangs continued to build on the lead and coasted to a 93-48 victory.
