CANYON, Texas -- Midwestern State takes on West Texas A&M in its penultimate of the season Saturday night at Buffalo Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Mustangs look to snap a three-game skid after falling to Lone Star Conference frontrunning Angelo State (44-7), Central Washington (42-21), and Western Oregon (21-16) in the past three weeks to fall to 3-6 overall and to 2-5 in league play.
Sophomore
Andrew Knebel is set to make his fifth start at quarterback after opening the season behind
Sean Jastrab and
Matthew Duncan -- both are out with injuries.
Knebel leads the Mustangs with 679 yards on 59-of-113 passing with four touchdowns and five interceptions.
Sophomore
Demonte Greene is his top target, leading the receiving corps with 381 yards and four touchdowns on 20 receptions. Senior
Adam Johnson has also made 20 catches for 281 yards with a 77-yard touchdown at Central Washington.
Junior
Justin White, Jr. leads MSU with 31 receptions, while accounting for 268 yards.
Juniors
Jalen March (337 yards, one touchdown) and
Christian Olige (141 yards, three touchdowns) are set to handle chores in the running game.
Senior safety
Larry Donnell leads the Mustangs with 60 tackles with two interceptions and an NCAA Division II leading three fumble recoveries. He boasts a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown against Sul Ross State and a 66-yard fumble return for a score versus Western Oregon.
Senior kicker
Joseph Carlson ranks third in the nation averaging 1.56 made field goals per game and is fifth with a 82.4 made field goal percentage. Both marks lead the LSC.
Carlson has been successful on 14 of his 17 field attempts this season with a long of 50 yards last week against Western Oregon.

The Buffs have won the last four meetings and lead the overall series, 21-15. The Mustangs are in search of their first win at Buffalo Stadium, which opened in 2019, and the first win in Canyon since Marqui Christian scooped up a fumbled punt and raced 18 yards for a touchdown to clinch a Lone Star Conference title with a 52-48 win on November 3, 2012.
