This week's Stang Gang Podcast features head football coach Rich Renner discussing all the latest news surrounding Midwestern State Football.

Midwestern State opened the 2026 season with a 30-23 win over Missouri Southern on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The Mustangs fell behind 9-0 but blocked an extra point that was returned by Ethan Dishman for two points, and the Mustangs scored 30 unanswered points.The Lions mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter and had one play at the MSU 26-yard line with one second remaining in the game, but the defense kept Missouri Southern from scoring and Midwestern State celebrated a victory. Quarterback Kaden Brown was impressive in his MSU debut, completing 32-of-38 passes for 390 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored the first touchdown of the game with a 4-yard run early in the second quarter. The Mustangs make their first road trip of the season as they travel to Michigan Tech for a Saturday kickoff at 11 a.m. CDT.
