PORTALES, N.M. -- Midwestern State fought back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Eastern New Mexico 2-1 Saturday night at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
Midwestern St. improved to 11-2-3 overall and 6-2-1 in Lone Star action following the win.
How it Happened
Eastern New Mexico took a 1-0 lead when Ben Sauerlander scored in the 39th minute, assisted by Nathan Le Roux and Alexandre Meres.
The Mustangs leveled the match on a goal from Max Gonzales -- his fifth goal of the season -- in the 44th minute, assisted by Liam Pritchard and Mere Escobar.
Midwestern State went ahead 2-1 on Liam Kervick's 48th-minute goal, his second of the season. The 2-1 score held to the finish.
The Mustangs close the regular season with a showdown against St. Mary's Wednesday night at Stang Park. The Mustangs can clinch a bye in the the first round of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament with a victory over the Rattlers. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
