SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- Midwestern State's Eduardo Cerna scored two goals and the Mustangs rallied with three goals in the second half overtake St. Edward's 3-1 Friday night in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament semifinals at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
Midwestern State (13-2-3) moves on to face St. Mary's Sunday afternoon. The match kicks off at 1 p.m.
How it Happened
St. Edward's struck for the opener when Matthew Devaney scored in the eighth minute on an assist from Arthur Souza.
The Mustangs finally broke through in the 62nd minute when Cerna headed in his third goal by heading in a shot inside the near post on a cross from the right wing from Ethan Krchnak.
Cerna struck the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute after Liam Pritchard created an opportunity by taking the ball away from St. Edward's in the midfield for his seventh assist of the season.
Senior Mere Escobar put match away with a record breaking goal in the 86th minute. It was 15th of the season as moved ahead of Alvin Alexander and Kris Henderson to become MSU's all-time goal socring leader with his 59th career goal. Undoubtedly the man of the match, Cerna also assisted on that goal.
