WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State delivered a pair of solid performances while competing in a pair of events Saturday morning.
The Mustangs placed ninth in a 45-team field in Dallas Baptist's Old Glory Gallop at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, and also placed second among a five-team field in the Eastern New Mexico Greyhound Invitational in Portales.
Junior
Ella Pando led the Mustangs in the Old Glory Gallop by turning in the 10th-best, 5,000-meter time in program history to place 36th overall at 18:18.00.
It was one of four performances on the school's all-time 5K list with senior
Nathalia Escontrias running an 18:32.00 to place 50th with the school's 16th-best mark, junior
Jadyn Dangerfield running an 18:35.00 to take 53rd with the program's 17th-best time, and junior
Rosalene Reyes Perez finishing in 18:44.00 to finish 63rd with the school's 21st-best performance.
Freshman
Grace Pineda turned in the final team countable performance by finishing 70th with a time of 18:51.00.
The Mustangs amassed 247 points to finish ninth behind Rice (31), Cal Poly Pomona (102), Dallas Baptist (130), Texas State (140), Ouachita Baptist (164), Arkansas Tech (218), East Central (230), and MSU Denver (240).
Dallas Baptist's Lesli Salas was the individual winner with a time of 17:06.00.
Junior
Isabel Hernandez led the Mustangs to a runner-up team showing at the Greyhound Invitational, by taking second individually with a 6,000-meter time of 24:51.24.
Overall, the Mustangs amassed 50 points with freshman
Evelyn Daugherty (25:47.16) place sixth, sophomore
Jazira Perez (26:18.86) finishing 11th, freshman
Abigail Michaelis (27:17.02) taking 16th, and freshman
Bailee Bowers (28:05.06) finishing 20th.
The Mustangs finished 20 points behind Amarillo College (30 points), which produced individual champion Mia Lujan, who finished ENMU's campus course in 24:44.55.
Midwestern State competes in the Lone Star Conference Championship set for Saturday, October 26 in Kingsville. Â
