WEATHERFORD, OK --The Midwestern State volleyball team fired back after losing the first set to secure a 3-1 win (20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 29-27) against the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs at Pioneer Event Center on Tuesday night.

The non-conference victory improved Midwestern State's overall record to 10-10 on the season.

The Mustangs were led by a double-double from Demi Stauffenberg, who registered a season-high 17 kills and 21 digs on the day. Riley Rabedeaux added 15 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Amy Dewalt chipped in with 18 digs to go with five blocks from Gabrielle Oos.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Mustangs found themselves in an early deficit, dropping the first set 25-20. Southwestern Oklahoma State grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was tied up six times before the Bulldogs took control.

SET 2 | Midwestern State fought back from a first-set loss to take the second set 25-23, evening the match at one set apiece. The Mustangs survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied six times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.

SET 3 | Midwestern State went ahead 2-1 in the match after defeating the Bulldogs in set three. The Mustangs took the lead for good at 24-23 in a set that showcased two lead changes before Midwestern State took over in the second half of the stanza.  The Mustangs racked up 18 kills in a 25-23 set win.

SET 4 | Midwestern State finished off the match with a 29-27 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Mustangs persevered in a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured seven lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team was able to grab a lead larger than four points along the way. The Mustangs win came in a stanza where 17 of their 29 points came via the kill. Midwestern State got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Southwestern Oklahoma State attacks in the stanza.

Midwestern State returns to LSC play on Friday night with a match at Cameron. First serve at Aggie Gym in Lawton, Oklahoma, is scheduled for 6 p.m.
