Mustangs take down Cameron for fourth-straight win

LAWTON, Okla. --Midwestern State volleyball team stormed back after dropping the first set to secure a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-22, 25-13, 27-25) over the Cameron Aggies Friday night at Aggie Gymnasium.

MSU's fourth-straight win boosted the Mustangs' record to 11-10 overall and 4-5 in LSC action.

The Mustangs attack was paced by sophomore Isabella Dickens, who finished with 14 kills while posting a hitting percentage of .400. Senior Riley Rabedeaux added 11 kills, while sophomore Mia Nicklas also pitched in with five service aces. Senior Amy DeWalt led back row efforts with 13 digs.

» Mia Nicklas had a season-high five service aces in the win.
» Isabella Dickens had a team-high 14 kills for Midwestern State. It was her eighth match with at least 10 kills this season.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Mustangs fell behind early, losing the first set 25-20. Cameron grabbed the advantage for good at 21-20 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Aggies took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Midwestern State evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 second-set win. The Mustangs survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured six lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way. The Midwestern State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.

SET 3 | Midwestern State went up 2-1 after defeating the Aggies in set three. The Mustangs took control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-13. Midwestern State ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to close out the set. The Midwestern State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.

SET 4 | Midwestern State ended the match with a 27-25 fourth-set victory, winning their third set in a row. The Mustangs persevered in a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team was able to grab a lead larger than four points along the way. Midwestern State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
