Midwestern State squares off with old TIAA rival Lobos Saturday at Memorial Stadium

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State and Sul Ross State rekindle an old Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivalry Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Sul Ross State is in its first season in the Lone Star Conference after making the jump from NCAA Division III. The Lobos bring a 1-4 overall record into Saturday's contest and are 0-3 in league play.

Midwestern State (2-3, 1-2 LSC) is seeking to snap a two-game slide after taking losses to UT Permian Basin and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The programs split the previous 12 meetings and have not met since Sul Ross State squeaked past MSU, 14-13, on October 26, 1996 in Alpine.

Sophomore quarterback Andrew Knebel is set for his second career start after completing 18-of-41 passes for 257 yards with two interceptions last week at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

His top two targets including junior Arabia Bradford, Jr., who has made 16 receptions for 223 yards, while sophomore Demonte Greene has made 10 catches for 211 yards including a pair of touchdowns last week against the Javelinas.

Junior Justin White, Jr. leads the Mustangs with 19 receptions for 182 yards, while senior Adam Johnson has made 11 catches for 117 yards.

Junior running back Devin Cross is the Mustangs' top ground threat with 392 yards on 52 carries, while fellow junior Jalen March has 237 yards on 55 totes.

Senior safety Larry Donnell leads the defense with 36 tackles, while senior linebacker Braden Robinson is second on the squad with 29 stops, including a season-high 10 tackles against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Junior quarterback Andrew Martinez directs the Sul Ross State attack by throwing for 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns and is also the team's top rusher with 107 yards on 46 carries.

His top two targets are sophomore wide receiver Yamil Oaxaca(31 receptions, 379 yards) and senior Austin Ogunmakin (14 receptions, 317 yards).

Senior Quincy Blair leads the Lobos on defense with 52 tackles.
