WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Angelo State (14-2, 4-0) earned its 27th consecutive victory over Midwestern State (3-13, 0-4) and won its 11th straight match at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday afternoon with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-20 victory. The Rambelles extended their overall winning streak to six matches, and the Mustangs suffered a fifth consecutive defeat.
Senior outside hitter Hannah Kinnison led Angelo State with 19 kills and hit .581 with 31 swings. Kinnison was part of five blocks and was responsible for 21.5 points in the victory. Laney Dale had 22 of 42 assists for the Rambelles, who hit .291 as a team.
Angelo State totaled eight blocks and had 46 digs in the victory. Caleigh Enax had 16 digs and Dale finished with 10.
The Rambelles established an early 9-2 advantage and led the opening set wire-to-wire. Angelo State hit .225 in the first set.
In the second set, MSU took an 11-10 lead, but a Kinnison kill sparked a 12-0 run for Angelo State, which hit .324 in the second set.
Midwestern State hit .235 in the third set, but it wasn't enough to defuse the Rambelles, who hit a match-high .333 and never trailed after taking a 2-1 lead the third set.
Jaiden Wright led the Mustangs with eight kills and hit .375. Wright and
Elise Smith each had a block assist for MSU.
Riley Rabedeaux had seven kills and hit .250, while
Lauryn Bourne finished with six kills and hit .136 for the Mustangs, who hit .110 as a team for the match.
Alayna Guerrero had 26 of the 27 assists and had 10 of the 42 digs for Midwestern State.
The Mustangs continue their four-match homestand on Wednesday night as they host Lubbock Christian at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
