WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Lexi Beck converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute and
Lexi Jackson made eight saves to make it stand up as Midwestern State took a 1-0 win over unbeaten Texas Woman's Wednesday night at Stang Park.
Beck has scored in all four matches during MSU's current four-match winning streak s the Mustangs improved to 4-1-2.
The junior from Fort Worth corralled a cross from
Allessandra Romano, then was bumped to the ground from behind by TWU midfielder Celeste Beltran well inside the box.
Beck rolled a ball to the lower-left corner of the net to beat TWU goalkeeper Amanda Farris for the only goal of the match.
It was Beck's fifth goal of the season and third from the penalty spot, but the Mustangs had to work to stay in from of TWU.
The Pioneers dominated possession in the second half by a 60-40 margin, while controlling a 15-10 edge in shots and took six corner kicks to just one for the Mustangs.
Jackson came within one save of a career high, while positing her third clean sheet of the season and eighth of her career.
Midwestern State hits the road to take on Angelo State Saturday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Texas Woman's dropped to 5-1-1 on the season.
