EDMOND, Okla. -- Junior
Lexi Beck took advantage of a Central Oklahoma miscue to net the equalizer in the 71st minute as the Mustangs battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Tom Thompson Field.
It's the first draw in the 25-meeting history of the program and just the third time a match was tied at the end of regulation.
The Mustangs moved to 0-0-2 on the season after playing Metropolitan State of Denver to a scoreless draw Thursday night at Stang Park.
Central Oklahoma freshman Izzy Van Zanten opened the scoring in the 62nd minute after the Bronchos used a combination play through Albany Adair and Elena Conaway to crate an opening in front of the goal.
Van Zanten passed the ball into the net to give UCO a late lead.
But nine minutes later, Beck ran on to a pass intended for Central Oklahoma goalkeeper Caroline Faulkner. Beck tucked the ball inside the far post to level the match at 1-all.
The aggressive Mustangs out-shot the Bronchos by a 14-5 margin while placing six shots on frame. UCO managed the one shot on goal by Van Zanten.

Isabella Cruz was the busiest Mustang, firing seven shots including three on goal.
Beck's goal was MSU's first against the Bronchos since scoring three times in a 3-1 win over UCO on October 1, 2013. The Mustangs were shut out in the last three meetings -- 2018, 2020, and 2021.
Midwestern State continues on the road with a pair of games next weekend in Gunnison, Colorado. The Mustangs play Fort Lewis Friday at 1 p.m. before squaring off with Western Colorado on Sunday.
