Adams picked to lead MSU Strength and Conditioning

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State announced the addition of Dillon Adams as Head Strength and Conditioning program Friday afternoon.

"We are excited to welcome Dillon to campus to lead the strength and conditioning program," MSU Athletics Director Kyle Williams said. "He brings great experience, an excellent reputation, and has the work ethic to continue the tradition and culture that MSU Athletics is known for."

Adams brings more than 10 years of collegiate experience in the athletic performance field to MSU.

He arrives to Wichita Falls following a short run as Assistant Coach for Athletic Performance at Tarleton, where he was in charge of training the women's basketball, women's soccer, and track & field programs, as well as assisting with several other sports and overseeing weight room management.

"I am ready to get a chance to work with my own program and put my stamp on MSU Athletics," Adams said. "I thank Kyle Williams for presenting the opportunity. He will be great to work for. It is exciting to work with a program that has been tough across the board and to be able to take that and help it build and grow."

Adams, who also spent two years (2015-17) as a graduate assistant at Tarleton, was the Director of Athletic Performance at Ottawa University in Kansas from 2018-23. He worked primarily with football, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, and the flag football team, plus oversaw all aspects of the Braves' athletic performance department.

He also spent the first three seasons at Ottawa as the head men's and women's powerlifting coach.

In-between his first stint at Tarleton and his time at Ottawa, Adams was an assistant sports performance coach at Houston and was an intern for the football strength and conditioning program at Texas.

At Houston, he was the strength coach for women's tennis and women's golf and assisted with the Cougars football team.

While at UT, he was responsible for training sessions, assisted with nutrition, did hydration testing, and assisted with the Catapult Data System.

Adams also spent the summer of 2016 as a sports performance coach at the Performance Course in Aledo, Texas, and worked nearly three years as the student strength and conditioning coach for football at Howard Payne (January 2012 to December 2014).

Adams was a letterman on the football team at Howard Payne, graduating in December of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sports Science.

He earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Tarleton State University in December of 2016.
